Obituary

Frank J. Nachazel of Traverse City took the journey home to be with his Lord God, Jesus Christ before dawn on Wednesday December 4th. He is with his beloved parents Frank and Anne of East Jordan. Where his brother James of Bakersfield California has patiently waited for him and his best friend Chuck Kolin of Central Lake has kept a camp fire going anxious for Frank to come home too.
Frank was born April 13th 1931 in Muskegon, Michigan where his father had re- located to work for the Heinz Ketchup Plant. His dad had graduated from Michigan State where Dad subsequently attended college as well studying Police Administration. He spent his youth in East Jordan with his siblings; James, Joann, Jean(Pete), Mary Ellen, David, Patricia, and Daniel, where his grandfather John had moved much earlier after growing up in Maple City. Frank was a faithful communicant at Immaculate Conception Parish and especially enjoyed attending early Mass at the Carmelite Monastery in TC. He eagerly taught Catechism and Bible Study over the many years of his life and was a Scout Master working with and supporting the Boy Scouts where he could. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and Sailor, and was most happy racing his various sailboats in the numerous regattas and Jib and Main races at the Traverse City Yacht Club on West Bay. He served 52 months in the U S Coast Guard, and met the love of his life and spouse of 62 years, Joan Ona Taylor of Tauton, Mass., while stationed at Cape Cod, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, in Massachusetts.

Frank retired in 1994 after working in radio broadcasting for over 30 years. He valued his accounts as friends and served them loyally seeing that people where not a means to an end, but an end in themselves, seeking their success earnestly and faithfully. The close of his career saw Frank working for WTCM; Midwestern Broadcasting, which to his mind was the finest organization and family of dedicated professionals serving the industry he loved in Michigan. Frank and Joan together were active participants in the Traverse City Community serving the National Cherry Festival, The North American Vasa, and many other events that signified the true character of this, what Frank always called, God's Country. Franks personal motto was, "As for me and my family, we will Serve The Lord".
Frank is survived by five sons, Francis J. III and Amy, Gregory and Tami, of TC, Phillip and Mary Kathleen of Cedar, Douglas of Minneapolis, and Matthew and Pam of LaGrange, Indiana. Five Granddaughters, Erin Anne Snook of Tiffin, Ohio, Meghan Thomas of Ft. Greely, Colorado, Major Heather Ford of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Leigh Anne Gaddy of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Molly Nachazel of Longmont, Colo. There are at this moment eight great grand children with another little bundle on the way in the spring. And two very special step-grandchildren, Blaze and Ashley in Indiana
