Frank William Huxtable Jr, 89, of Traverse City passed away May 5, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Frank was born July 8, 1926 in Lansing, MI to the late Frank and Agnes (Chamberlain) Huxtable. He attended Lansing Sexton High School and after graduation he joined the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He attended Michigan State University, where he received a degree in mechanical engineering.
After graduation from Michigan State, Frank went to work at Oldsmobile where he was instrumental in developing technology for the transition from leaded to unleaded vehicles and the development of the catalytic converter. He retired from Oldsmobile in 1982 after27 years of service.
Frank married Patricia Underhill on December 28, 1950 in a service at the First Congregational Church in Ovid, MI.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Patricia; sons William (Rhoda Cochran) of Knoxville, TN, David (Betti Huff) of Bath, MI, Christopher of Traverse City; daughter Amy (Peter) Cousino of Sebastian, FL; grandchildren Isaac (Chris) and Michael Kremer, Carla Imertz, Aaron and Daniel Huxtable and Alicia Bernard; and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service in Frank's honor will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Central United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Pastor Dale Ostema will officiate.
