Obituary

Fred Robert Castillo, 66, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
Fred was born August 9, 1951 in Saginaw, MI to Frank and Irene (Enciso) Castillo.
He was a 1969 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. It was during those years he met and fell in love with Kelly (Maureen) Allen sharing their next 50 years together.
In 1971, just months after their marriage, Fred was drafted into the Army where he served as a Personnel Specialist in Colorado Springs, CO and then Germany.
Kelly was able to join him referring to that time as their 2 year honeymoon.

He and Kelly were blessed with two children; Sarah Beth and Brett Michael (Melisa) and their precious grandchildren Shae Michael, Sophia Ann and Matthew Brian, all living in Traverse City.
Fred served 37.7 years with General Motors! Retired, they joined their children and families spending summer days boating on the many lakes, biking the beautiful trails, skiing the resorts, golfing the courses all surrounding their beloved Northern Michigan Home.
But the very best of days were filled with the many activities shared with their grandchildren.

Like his mother, Fred always enjoyed bringing family together or sending them off with a good meal. The kids enjoyed made to order breakfast after sleepovers!
Life was Good!

The passing of their son, Brett in 2015 brought such sadness to their family but with the guidance of their Kensington Church Family, they formed an even closer relationship with our heavenly father as He carried them through the storm.

They also found the happiness they thought was lost from the love and support of family and friends. They were grateful for the precious time they had with Brett and found they still experienced, as they called them the "Best Day Ever" kind of days!

Fred leaves many saddened family members all who love and admire this gentle, always kind and humble man.

Along with Kelly, Fred is survived by Matthew's dear father, Brian Jacobi.
His beloved siblings; Mary Lou and Andy Faden; Rebecca Castillo and David Williams; Laura Castillo; Paul Castillo; and Michael and Laura Castillo.

Kelly's family he loved as his own;
His 97 year old father-in-law, James P. Allen; Pat and Kathy Allen; Michael Allen; Kathleen and Lee Ostrander, Shannon and Craig Bishop; Mary and Jim Green; Missy and Jon Stewart.

Fred also leaves many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy.

Along with Brett, Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Irene Castillo. His mother-in-law, Valeta Allen and sister-in-law, Lee Allen.

A celebration of Fred's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Kensington Church, 6880 Secor Rd., Traverse City, MI 49685, on Saturday, July 28, 2018 with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior.
