Frederick 'Fred' James Schaub, 60, of Traverse City, passed away March 8, 2019.
Fred was born January 27, 1959 to the late James and Wilma (Durga) Schaub.
Growing up, Fred loved to help on his family's cherry farm in Leelanau County, later becoming a pretty exceptional gardener himself.
Fred loved to hunt and fish and spend his free time outdoors. He had a real knack for the outdoor life and dreamt of making an appearance on the show Gold Rush.
Although he was the rebel of the family, Fred was also the peacemaker. He was caring and compassionate and would do anything for anyone.
His best wardrobe was flannel. He rarely was without it. Fred enjoyed the casino every now and again as well. Fred really was a good ole' boy.
He was employed for 36 years at SaraLee, first as a Freezer Coordinator and then a HiLo driver.
He is survived and missed dearly by his wife Joyce, his daughter Maegan (Shawn) Sprague, step daughter Mariana Graveline, step son Nick LaFuze, grandchildren; Aven, Allie, Olivia, Aeralynn, Reighan, Braylin, Graicen and Layla. He is also survived by his siblings; Susan (Tom) Garvin, Mark (Cathy) Schaub, Cathy (Dimittris) Pantzartzis, along with his nieces and nehews; Jason (Angie) Garvin, Kylee (Shayne) Gatzke, Jacob Schaub, Nikki (Jason) Dobson, Even Pantzartzis.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents and sister Saundra.
Visitation will take place Tuesday March 12, 2019 from 5-7pm at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will take place Wednesday March 13, 2019 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior also at the funeral home. Fred's final resting place will be at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens with his parents and sister.
