Frederick Henry Gillespie Kramer, husband of Mary Samia (Lamp) Kramer of Lake Ann, died on Oct. 5, 2023, in Traverse City following a short illness. Known as a devoted and loving husband, father to four children, Matt Kitchens (Jamie Haigler) of Marysville, Ohio, the late Neal Lamp, Erin Kitchens LaMont of Ludington, Anna Kramer Beach of Traverse City, and stepson Avram (Lisa) Lee of Sioux Falls SD; eight grandchildren, Autumn (Michael) Womack, Jonas (Angelia) LaMont, Quinn LaMont, Gabrielle Kitchens, Tristan Kitchens, Michael Beach, Kristopher Lamp, Emberleigh Kitchens, Kenzie Lee; and eight great grandchildren.
A singer, songwriter, novelist, raconteur, actor, humorist, friend to all he met, and pure of spirit,
Fred was 72. Born in Chicago and raised in Highland Park and Lake Forest, Illinois, and serving in the U.S. Army, Fred's heart and soul were completely at home in the woods and waters of Northern Michigan and the Manitou Islands.
Fred was the third child of LeRoy Kramer, Jr. and Elizabeth Gillespie Kramer, late of Harbor Springs, and brother to Margaret Kramer of Rapid City and LeRoy Kramer III of Harbor Springs. At Fred's request there will be no public services.
A celebration of life will be held with family and friends in attendance at Pine Hall, 1776 High Lake Road, Traverse City, from 4:30-9 p.m. on November 4, 2023. Memorial gifts will be gratefully received by Arts for All of Northern Michigan or J&S's Project Feed the Kids.
