Frederick B. Harrison, 96 of Traverse City passed away peacefully on June 19, 2022 at his home.
Fred was born on February 15, 1926 in Detroit to the late Vaughn and Mary (Vartain) Harrison.
Fred served our country honorably as a pilot in the United States Army Air Corps in WWII. In retirement he joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he served as a commanding officer.
Fred earned his Master's in Education Administration from Wayne State University. Fred was a teacher and administrator at many area schools in the Detroit area. He also was a customs officer, both for over 30 years. Following retirement he was a member of the Elks and American Legion. Fred was a people person and thoroughly enjoyed life. Above all else he treasured his family and friends.
On August 13, 1988, Fred married, Joyce Gertrude Jacques in Orchard Lake.
Fred will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 33 years; Joyce; son Craig Harrison; sister "Mike" Johnson and nephew Kerry and his wife Leslie.
A celebration of his life with full military honors will be held at a later date.
