Traverse City-Garfield Erick Dahl, 83, of Traverse City died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Birchwood-Tendercare in Traverse City with loving family by his side.
Garfield was born on Sunday, August 21, 1932 to the late Erick Garfield and Adeline Ann (Barley) in Pontiac. He proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army.
On Saturday, July 17, 2004, he married Irene E. Paquette in Roscommon. Gar worked as a draftsman and helped to design and build The Rock Golf Course on Drummond Island. Following it's completion, he continued working on the maintenance of the golf course. He and Irene enjoyed excursions to Hawaii, Europe, and traveling across the United States.
Garfield is survived by his wife, Irene E. Dahl, of Traverse City, sons; Erick (Bonnie) Dahl of Kansas, Ronald (Gail) Dahl of Traverse City, and Gordon (Jibby) Dahl of Oregon, daughters; Roxanne (Frank) Sarasin of Kewadin and Terri (Kevin) Miller of Howell, step-children; Edwin (Chantelle) Paquette of Gaylord, Richard Paquette of Alden, Shelly (David) Guernsey of Traverse City, Sandra Bradley of Clinton Township, and Linda (Grant) Reed of Highland, 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Ruth Richardson of Gaylord, Betty Hawkes of Roscommon, and Barbara Pudney of White Lake, as well as many other loving friends and family. Garfield was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, Russell.
Services will take place at a later time.
