Obituary

Gary Scott Freeman, of Traverse City, Michigan (formerly of Lansing), age 85, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023. He was born to Jasper and Josephine Freeman on August 24, 1938, in Lansing, MI.

Gary was a 1957 graduate of Lansing Sexton High School, and after proudly serving his country as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army, he continued his education at Lansing Community College, Northwood University, and the General Motors Institute (GMI), earning an Associate's Degree from LCC. He worked for 34 years for General Motors, starting as an electrician and retiring as a plant supervisor, before serving for another 15 years as an Ingham County Sheriff's Deputy.

Gary enjoyed watching Michigan State Spartan Football or any sport in which his grandchildren were participating, and discussing current events. He had just become baptized into the Catholic Church in his final days.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Shari Ann (Vinger), her sons Jason (Sarah) and Christopher (Alison) Sullivan, his daughters, Wendy and Janell, three brothers including Allen and Michael, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dennis.
