Gary A. Hiatt

Gary A. Hiatt, 82, of Traverse City passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.

Gary was born on October 10, 1934 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Gerald and Mae (Spore) Hiatt. He married Idalyn A. Groleau on June 13, 1959. Together they lovingly raised three wonderful sons.

Gary moved to the Traverse City area in 1946 from Indiana. He retired from Munson Medical Center where he was a Radiology Technologist. He was a devoted member to St. Francis Catholic Church and the to the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time Gary enjoyed volunteering at the St. Theatre and at the Fr. Fred Foundation. Also, Gary liked to golf and bowl. Most importantly Gary loved his family and spending time with them.

Surviving Gary are his sons, Gerry (Kathy) Hiatt of Traverse City, Jeff (Deb) Hiatt of Punta Gorda, FL, Joel Hiatt of Torch Lake; grandchildren, Dylan, Elizabeth, Jonathan and Emily; great grandchild Kieran and Elisha; sister Nancy Patino and many other family members and friends.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Judith Courtad, John Hiatt, and Richard Hiatt.

Visitation will be held on Sunday May 21, 2017 from 5-7pm with a 7pm Rosary at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Mass will be held on Monday May 22, 2017 at St. Francis Catholic Church at 11am with a visitation beginning at 10am. Burial will take place at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
