Gary McPhall, son of Clinton and Mildred (Pavlis) McPhall, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at Munson Hospice House with his family by his side. He was born on Friday, January 31, 1941, (on his mother's birthday) in Traverse City, and he spent his entire life in the area.
Gary attended Buckley Schools, graduating with the Class of 1959. He married Constance "Connee" G. Cooper on Saturday, December 3, 1960 at the Grant Methodist Church.
A farmer, framer and finish carpenter, Gary loved to hunt, fish and camp in the area in which he grew up. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends as well. In retirement, he lived on the Manistee River back waters in the summer, and then on Lake Pan, Florida during the winter months.
He leaves his wife Connee, a son, John G. (Molly) McPhall of Brighton; daughters, Theresa R. (Jeff) Lhamon of Traverse City, Kris A. (Mark) Mikowski of Williamsburg; his grandchildren, Jack, Matthew, Kennady, Brandi, Brooke and Brittany; two great grandchildren, Kylie and Paisley; a brother Richard (Terry) of Traverse City, a sister-in-law, Patty McPhall Jenks of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William and sister Carolyn and her husband Leonard Peplinski.
An informal celebration of life open house will take place on Saturday, July 16, from 4 until 6 p.m. at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
