Obituary

Gary C. Nicholson passed away August 14, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born October 10, 1936 to Lawrence and Bernice Nicholson of McLean, Texas. Gary proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. In May of 1974, he married Sherry Cox.

Gary was a proud Texas transplant to Michigan and he was known for his amazing collection of cowboy boots. He loved rooting for the Dallas Cowboys when they played the Detroit Lions. He and Sherry enjoyed square dancing, antiquing, and restoring and showing classic cars. He owned and operated Gary's Welding in Kalkaska, MI and worked as a pipeline welder and inspector for many years.

He is survived by his children Kenneth (Cindy) Nicholson; Kevin (Jamie) Nicholson; Lori Nicholson; Bryan (Sara) Nicholson; Mathew (Leah) Nicholson, and Kari Nicholson. Gary is also survived by grandchildren Whitney Tatum, Lindsey Nicholson, Christian and Creed Nicholson; Shelby Nicholson, Kaden and Karlee Nicholson, and Audrey Nicholson as well as great-grandchildren Kyler Nicholson and Madison Rios; Keegan and Adrian Villanueva, and Gracelyn Villegas.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Richard "Nick' Nicholson, Hershel Nicholson, and Michael Nicholson.

Reynolds Jonkhoff will be handling the arrangements, which will be set at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
