Gary Lee Russell, Sr., 82 of Traverse City passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Munson Medical Center. Gary was born on September 12, 1938 in Charlevoix, Michigan to the late Otto "Bud" and Beatrice "Bee" (Drost) Russell.

In 1955 Gary, along with his dad, Bud and brother, David opened Russell's Shoes in Petoskey. Over the years, the business grew to include locations in Gaylord and in the Cherryland Mall in Traverse City. In his spare time Gary loved to be outside, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and working in his garden.

Gary is survived by his two sons, Gary (Lynn Golinski) Russell, Jr. and Todd Russell. Also surviving are grandchildren; Gunner Russell and Ashley Sarnik, brother, David (Lynn) Russell as well as a special friend, Patricia Farmhill.

In accordance with Gary's wishes cremation and private family services have taken place.
