Gaye Leigh Bobier Matta, 66 of Traverse City, passed away Wednesday May 1, 2013 at Munson Hospice House surrounded by loved ones.

Gaye was born on June 25, 1946 in Detroit, MI to the late Charles and Clara (Irish) Bobier.

Gaye worked and retired from the Grand Traverse Probate Court and Family Services. She was a dedicated Dula Volunteer and worked with the elderly for many years.

She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, entertaining at her home, cooking and was an avid reader. Traveling, fishing, nature and especially spending time in the outdoors brought great joy to her life. Gaye will be remembered fondly as a pet lover, and for her soft spoken and candid spirit. She was a wonderful mother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Surviving Gaye is her son Scott (Kandance "Kandy") Gibson, grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph "Joey", and Thomas "TJ", significant other Hugo Trepte and many other loving family members and friends.

Gaye is preceded in death by her parents, brother Geoffrey Bobier and her husband Ronald Matta.

Gaye requested for cremation to take place followed by a party celebrating her life. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Traverse Area District Library.
