Gene Leroy Bonino, 77 of Traverse City passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Munson Medical Center with his wife at his side.
Gene was born on March 17, 1936 in Dearborn, MI to the late Tom and Ruth (VanFleet) Bonino. He married Joan Martell on August 18, 1962.
Gene honorably served our Country in the United States Army. Following his time in the service, Gene worked for many years in the advertising industry in Detroit. He also enjoyed his cattle farm north of Detroit, and watching his children show cattle in 4-H. He was employed for a short time at Turtle Creek Casino where he was a supervisor. In retirement Gene enjoyed fishing daily on Bass Lake in Traverse City.
Surviving Gene is his wife Joan, children, Gene Jr. (Laura) Bonino of Kentucky, Robert (Krista) Bonino of Kentucky, Andra (Charlie) Shobe of Ohio, and Holly (Cory) Mikowski of Washington State, grandchildren, Candace, Ali, Sophia, Angelina, Jessica Nicholas, and Rose, and a beloved dog Minnie and many other loving family member and friends.
