Gene L. Houston

Gene L. Houston, 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Munson Medical Center. Gene was born on April 23, 1946 in Cadillac, Michigan. He was married to the love of his life Ruth Belknap on May 3, 1969 in Traverse City. They were married by Ruth's father, Rev. George Belknap. Gene was very outgoing and his passion was being on the road and talking to people. He was always on the go and loved being outdoors. Deer hunting was Genes favorite outdoor hobby, time spent with family and friends hunting or fishing. His family was his whole universe.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ruth, two sons, Jon Houston and Jim Houston. He was very proud of his grandson, Jaydynn Houston, whom he spent countless hours with.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and a sister.

Friends are welcome to visit with Gene's family on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, 49684. A committal service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
