Mr. George D. Averill

George D. Averill of Traverse City passed away on October 24, 2013 at the age of 69. He was born in Coopersville, MI. to Keith and Phyllis (Rahn) Averill April 4, 1944.

George was a friend to all. You could meet him and ten minutes later feel like he was your lifelong pal. George's love for his children and grandchildren was immeasurable. He cherished every moment spent with them. George enjoyed riding his motorcycle, reading and working in the yard.

After a career in the banking world George went onto become an electrician. Upon retiring from VanKempen Electric of Grand Rapids he moved to Traverse City with his wife, Helen. Winters were spent in Sebring Florida where he helped care for his handicapped stepdaughter while enjoying the sunny south.

George was an amazing man who will continue to be loved and missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife Helen(Brazelton) Averill; children, Keith Averill (Barbara) of Ada, MI., Scott Averill(Jaime) of Chicago; Gina Marie Gaglio(Joseph) of CA.
Scott Erickson(Sara) and Bridget Erickson of Traverse City, grandchildren Keaton, Nicholas, Krystal, Kole, Charliese and Baker; brother, Earl Averill (Lisa) of Jupiter, FL. And sister Tonya Lemen.

A visitation will be held today at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 2-4PM and from 6-8PM. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
