George Larry Boyd, 84, of Lake Ann, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 peacefully at his home in Lake Ann with his family by his side.

Larry was born on Friday, March 9, 1934 to the late George and Doris (Kennedy) Boyd in Traverse City.

Larry had been a HVAC contractor prior to his retirement and had owned and operated Boyd Metal Craft. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U. S. Army from 1953 until 1955. He then transferred to the Army Reserves. Larry really enjoyed hunting, but his greatest passion was fishing. He would fish whenever he could. He was a member of Grawn Bible Methodist Church and had a servant's heart, helping many, many people, having had a tremendous love for them and for animals.

Surviving Larry is his daughter, Sharon Reese of Traverse City; his grandchildren, Rebecca (Michael) Corby of Traverse City, Holly (Matthew) Bright of Marysville, MI; his great grandchildren, Tyler Boyd, Caleb and Alex Bright and Ethan and Peyton Corby. Also surviving is his sister, Jackie Axtell of Traverse City and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel Boyd; an infant daughter, Debbie Boyd, his sister Jeannie (Leo) Ankerson and his brother in law Don Axtell.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Joanne for all of her care and support, Linda and Tim with Hospice of Michigan and Larry's friends who were able to visit in his final days.

Visitation for Larry will take place from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The service celebrating his life will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, also at the funeral home, with Reverend Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Long Lake, with full military honors.
