George O. Brown, 96, of Traverse City, passed away October 20, 2022, at Munson Medical Center.
He was born to the late George H. and Louise (Olson) Brown on October 7, 1926 in Lansing MI.
On March 16, 1957, in Traverse City, he married the love of his life Catherine "Kay" Mikowski.
Their marriage of 54 years was filled with much laughter, love and great family times.
George enjoyed wood working, collecting coins, regular trips to Lansing to see his school chums from back in the day and also his weekly visit to the Olson's on Hammond to spend time with his "Olson Boys".
Prior to retiring from the Michigan DNR as a Fire Officer, George selflessly served our country during the WWII conflict. He took great pride in his Nation and flag and would often be found swapping stories at the VFW Post with his fellow comrades.
George will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by sons David Brown, Richard and Daughter in-law Heather Brown (Ellis). Grandchildren Rachael, Cameron, Christopher, and Carson.
He is preceded in death by Wife Catherine "Kay" Brown and sister Marge Weston (brown) Brother in-laws Russ Weston.
A gathering will take place on Friday October 28, 2022 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 1-2:45pm. You are encouraged to come and share memories and visit with the family.
