George H. Guffey Jr , 77 of Mesick, Mi passed away on October 28th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend of 47 beautiful years, Doris (Macy) Guffey.
Born Aug 1st, 1948 in Inkster, Mi to the late Dorothy and George Guffey, George was the oldest of 4 and the only boy. He graduated from Cherry Hill High School in 1966 and went on to attend college at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Mi. After student teaching in L'Anse, Mi he was drafted into the United States Army in 1970 serving 2 years before taking over his father's locksmith business, which he successfully owned and operated until moving north with his family in 1990.
George loved northern Michigan, serving the area community as Wexford County Commissioner and member of the Wexford Township Board of Review for some time before his retirement in 2006. He continued on in his love for building hot rods and restoring old tractors to enjoying the winter months in the warm Arizona sunshine.
George is survived by his twin sons Garrett (Sarah) of Empire, Mi and Grant of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Daughters, Trisha (Jeff) Fleischer of Phoenix, AZ, and Kelley (Woody) Haskins of Mooresville, NC. George also leaves behind six grandchildren, Max, Jack, Miles, Adeline, Mallory and Glen.
One of his favorite quotes was "you're only penciled in, the big guy holders the eraser".
