Georgette Mikel (Aboudib) Ghossein, 96, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Thursday, February 17, 2022.

Georgette was born on December 31, 1925 in Zahle, Lebanon to Mikel and Hounine (Fadell) Ghossein. She married George Abou Dib in Zahle, Lebanon on January 15, 1948. Together they raised 3 sons and 3 daughters.

At a young age, Georgette was taught the skills of sewing to help contribute back to the family, and she became an amazing seamstress. She was very talented and could make almost any garment by hand, at times without the use of a sewing machine. She loved to cook and would spend hours making the most marvelous Lebanese meals from scratch for her family and taught her children to cook Lebanese cuisine, as well.

In 1992 she began dividing her time between Lebanon, Canada and America. In 2006 she moved to Traverse City full-time and in 2014, at the age of 88, she proudly earned her United States Citizenship.
Surviving Georgette are her children, Amal (Boutros) Bou-Assaly of Beirut, Lebanon, Elham Abou Dib (Joseph Khalife, deceased) of Zahle, Lebanon, Daughter-in-law's Marcelle Abou Dib and Mireille Abou Dib of Zahle, Lebanon, Mirna Abou Dib (Samir Feghali) of Windsor, Canada, Dr. Tony (Shirley) Aboudib of Traverse City; her grandchildren – Chawky (Hind) Bou-Assaly, Wissam (Nancy Hage) Bou-Assaly, Joelle (Michel) Achkouty, Aphrodite Khalife (Elie Sleiman), Elie Khalife (Mireille Khairallah), Georges Khalife (Jossy Hanna), George (Simona) Abou Dib, Shirley Abou Dib (Chadi Lyan), Chantel, Charbel and Anthony Abou Dib, Christine and Danny Feghali, Rachel (Joshua) Schleenbaker, Nicole, Danielle and Angela Aboudib; 20 great-grandchildren; her siblings, George, Alice and John, and many other loving family members and friends.

Georgette is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George and her sons, Joseph and Najib; her parents, Mikel and Hounine; and her siblings, Isabelle and Eli.

Visitation will be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 5-7 with a 7pm Rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick Church on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 11am with a visitation held one hour prior. Burial will take place at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Carmelite Monastery in Traverse City.
