Georgiana M. Oberg, 96, of Chicago, IL and formerly of Traverse City, died Friday, September 6, 2019 .

Georgiana was born on Tuesday, June 12, 1923 to the late George and Anna (Schannon) Hill in Chicago, IL. She married Edwin C. Oberg on Saturday, October 17, 1942 in Chicago and he preceded her in death on September 13, 1999.

Ed and Georgiana moved to Traverse City in 1976 where they owned and operated The Ranch Motel. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, loved reading novels and eating out and especially enjoyed cooking traditional family recipes at Christmas time. She was extremely devoted to her family.

Surviving Georgiana is her daughter Jeanine (Everett) Coleman of Hanover Park, IL; her grandchildren, Juli (Michael) VanPelt of Traverse City, Annie (James) Tucker of Ft. Campell, KY, Sarah Coleman of Milwaukee, WI and Matthew Coleman of Grand Rapids, along with several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed, a daughter, Pennie (Fred) Egeler and her siblings Ruth Christensen, Shirley Peterson, Richard and George Hill.

Graveside services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. For those that desire, memorial contributions in Georgiana's name may be directed to a charity of one's own choosing.
