Gerald "Bud" Albert Fromholz, 94, of Acme, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Hope Village with his loving wife at his side.
Bud was born on the family farm in Traverse City off Garfield Road on April 15, 1920 as the son of the late George and Eva (Latting) Fromholz. He had three brothers and one sister.
As a teenager his father passed away in an accident and Bud's family moved to the Flint area in 1932 to be closer to more family. Bud graduated from Flint Northern High School and later was honored to the school athletic hall of fame as part of the Wonder Boys in Sports. They were the State Champions for four years and were unbeatable. He earned a scholarship to the Gordon Military College in Georgia and played in the Orange Bowl. After 1 year of college he enlisted in 1941 to the Marines. He served 5 dedicated years to our Country.
After the war he married Anna Nester in Flint in 1947. They just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. He worked at GM from 1952-1982. In his spare time he loved to fish, spend time outdoors and go to sporting events with his special son-in-law Don. After retirement he spent 32 peaceful years in the Traverse City Area. Bud was a good friend and was loved by all.
Bub is survived by his wife Anna; daughters, Kathleen (Mike) Taylor, Nancy Pishney, son-in-law Donald Pishney; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a brother Donald Fromholz, and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Ferd Fromholz, George Fromholz and Dorothy Leach.
The Fromholz family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan and all the people that helped make Bud's passing as comfortable as possible.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Summer of 2015 at a date to be determined.
