Traverse City - Gerald Anthony Fabiszak, 78, of Traverse City passed away June 6, 2017 at Munson Medical Center.
Gerald was born on June 22, 1938 in Centerville Township at the family home to the late Myron Joseph and Irene Veronica (Bodus) Fabiszak. He was the oldest of nine children.
Gerald married Helen Loraine Glazier on August 31, 1963 at St. Francis.
Gerald was a semi driver for Coke for over 40 years. He never missed a day and made many friends along the way of his travels.
Gerald was a member of the United States Army Reserves for over 20 years. He enjoyed his time in the service and was fortunate to travel to Germany and Austria. He also liked to go to summer camp with his reserve troop.
In his spare time Gerald enjoyed watching horse pulls. He loved draft horses and enjoyed farming. He also loved going to the Chicken and Fish Dinners at Holy Rosary. Family was very important to Gerald and he cherished Sundays, where his family and friends would gather at the old farm house to eat, spend time together and play cards.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 54 years Helen, daughter Geri (William Jr.) Conner, son Steven (Janet) Fabiszak, grandchildren Katy and Christina, and siblings Evelyn, Rosanne, Germaine, Dorothy, Alice, Clara, and Joseph.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and brother Stanley.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation beginning one hour prior.
Graveside services will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens where he will receive full military honors. The family will gather for a luncheon afterwards at the VFW Post #2780.
