Gerald Russell Fifarek, 72 of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Munson Medical Center.
Jerry was born on May 25, 1941 in Traverse City to the late Gerald and Florence (Glazier) Fifarek. He married Theresa Rosinski in Cedar, MI on October 19, 1963. Together they lovingly raised two wonderful children.
Jerry graduated from St. Francis Catholic School in the class of 1959. Following high school he went in the Army Reserves and honorably served for 6 years. During that time he attended school at Northwestern Michigan College and went to work for TC Light and Power. He retired from TC Light and power after many years of dedicated service.
In Jerry's spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, grocery shopping for the deals and White Hot Aces at the casino. He especially loved to spend time at his family's hunting cabin. Most importantly Gerald will fondly be remembered for his sense of humor and love he had for his family. Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Surviving Jerry are his children, Jerilyn (Thomas) Blake, Anthony (Kelley) Fifarek, grandchildren, Jenna, Josie, Abigail, Emma, Tommy and Gabriel and many other loving family members and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and wife Theresa.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm with a 7pm scripture service on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1pm on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at St. Francis Catholic Church with a visitation held one hour prior.
