TRAVERSE CITY - Gerald "Jerry" Stanley Skorski, 79, of Traverse City, passed away on Nov. 8, 2016. He was born on Nov. 3, 1937, in Detroit to the late Stanley and Mayme (Dahlback) Skorski.
Jerry attended Rudyard High School and upon graduation in 1955 he enlisted and served for five years with the U.S. Coast Guard.
He relocated to Traverse City in 1976 and was employed with the FAA as an air traffic controller and later as a manager for TC Flight Service Station.
Jerry married Barbara Jean Alexander on October 12, 1987 in Traverse City and the couple celebrated 29 years of marriage together.
He was an active member of the Elks, Eagles, and American Legion. He especially enjoyed playing golf with his friends and fishing.
Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara; son, Kenneth j. Skorski; daughters Jacquelyn (Allan) Francis; step sons Thomas (Mary) Chapman, Kevin Chapman; step daughter Michelle (Scott) Anderson; Grandchildren Cole Chapman, Duncan Chapman, Aiden Chapman; Cousin Barbara (Ted) Maleport; half brother Stan (Jacque) Stanely.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mayme (Dahlback) Skorski.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tues. November 15, 2016 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
