Geraldine (Jean) Clara Ammon, 97, of Traverse City, MI, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Jean was born on August 7, 1926 in Detroit, MI to the late Jerome and Clara (Kurzava) Cotter. She married the late Richard Clayton Ammon on November 24, 1949 in Detroit. He preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a proud and active member at Christ the King Catholic Church in Acme, MI. In her spare time, she was a dedicated volunteer for Learning Partners, tutoring school age children in reading and she volunteered for over 20 years at the Father Fred Foundation.
Jean is survived by her children: Carol (Robert) Aicher of Lake Leelanau MI, Joseph (Cheryl) Ammon of Dewey AZ, Laurie (Michael) Gajewski of Troy, MI, Christine (William) Nickles of Canton, MI and Peter (Christy) Ammon of Breckenridge CO; grandchildren: Jacqueline Aicher, Gregory Aicher, Gretchen Volpe, Erica Murdock, Steven Ammon, Kristen Bruce, John Gajewski, Justin Nickles, Lindsay Karas, Colleen Parsons, Courtney Showalter, Arthur Wolin, Clayton Wolin, Mia Ammon, Jacob Ammon; and 18 great grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, her son Thomas Ammon and her daughter Maureen Wolin.
Mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Church with a visitation held from 10-11 at the church. A luncheon will be served following the Mass. Inurnment will take place at a later time in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation, P.O.
