Geraldine Louise Bell, 92, of Interlochen, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Medilodge TC in Traverse City.
Geraldine was born on Monday, August 9, 1926 to the late Glenn and Gladys (Martin) Corning in Flint. After graduation from high school, she continued her education at Central Michigan University, earning a bachelor's degree in education.
On Saturday, July 12, 1952, Geraldine married George W. Bell, Jr. in Flint. They would make their home in Flint until moving to the Traverse City area in 1991.
A member of The Presbyterian Church in Traverse City, Geraldine also was a member of AAUW, The Red Hat Society, the CMU alumni and was a former member of Elmbrook Golf Course. Her greatest joy was the Interlochen Public Library where she served as a board member for many years. She enjoyed being with her family, playing golf and biking all around the world.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory W. (Ronna Jane) Bell of Seattle, WA; Geoffrey M (Kristin) Bell of Lehigh Acres, FL; her grandchildren, Graham Bell, Reilley (Kelley) McKinlay, Zoe Bell, Sela Goldberg and Greg Collier as well as her great granddaughter, Jules McKinlay. Geraldine is also survived by her brother Donald C. Corning and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, brothers, Glenn Corning, Jr., Max E. and Douglas C. Corning and a sister Mary Corning Pattinson.
A memorial service to celebrate Geraldine's life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster, Traverse City with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. William Myers will officiate. Both Geraldine and George will be interred in the Prayer Garden of The Presbyterian Church.
