ORANGE CITY, Fla. — Geraldine Kinney, 99, of Orange City, Fla., formerly of Traverse City, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at John Knox Medical Center in Orange City, Fla.
Born Dec. 4, 1912, in Winchester, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Nellie (Foster) Bailey. On July 13, 1946, in Winchester, Ind., she married Eugene Kinney, who preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1988.
She had been a longtime resident of Traverse City prior to moving to Orange City, Fla., in 1981.
While living in this area she was a teacher at Traverse City Senior High for 19 years, a member of Central United Methodist Church, life member of Grand Traverse Retired Teachers Association and a long-standing member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a former teacher in Winchester.
In Orange City she was a member of the Women's Club and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Deland, Fla.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Hubert, Robert, James and Harold Bailey.
Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Tim Moeggenberg officiating.
