Obituary

Gerard "Gerry" Michael Casper, 74, of Traverse City (formerly New Jersey), passed away February 14, 2023.

He was born May 13, 1948, in New York, New York, son to Michael and Anna (Mosey) Casper.
Gerry was devoted to the Catholic faith his entire life. He and Teresa Knudsen married at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish in Traverse City on August 8, 1970. While living in New Jersey, the couple were members of The Community of God's Love and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Rutherford.

Professionally, Gerard was a respiratory therapist. He worked tirelessly, sometimes two jobs to help take care of his family. His wife, children and later, grandchildren, were his ultimate love and priority.
Gerry was an active parishioner at St. Francis (Traverse City, MI), serving as a eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a big fan of the science fiction genre and was a talented guitarist. When his children were young, he enjoyed participating in their activities like coaching little league and being involved with the Boy Scouts. He was an avid New Jersey Devils, New York Giants and New York Yankees fan.

Gerry is missed by so many, but we are comforted in knowing he is at rest with the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Teresa; children Jason (Christine) Casper, Christan (James) Novello, David (Kelly) Casper, Marissa Casper, Daniel (Kimberly) Casper and Laura (Daniel) Bigos; grandchildren Nicholas and Andrew Casper, Joshua, Briella and Elija Novello, Alexander, Benjamin and William Casper and Addison, Jaxson and Emerson Bigos; sister Anne (Carl) Boecherer, as well as extended family members and friends.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents, infant daughter Mary Casper, brother James Casper and sister Gerardine O'Brien.
