Gerda Sloan

August 21, 1933 — August 26, 2016

Gerda Sloan, 83, of Traverse City, died August 26, 2016 at Munson Medical Center while holding the hand of her forever love of 63 years Rinehart.
Gerda was born in Germany, on August 21, 1933 to the late Philip and Katarina (Baumgartner) Thiel. She was one of seven siblings spending her early childhood years and teens in Germany until she wed and moved to the states.
Once moving to the states, she raised a beautiful family of two daughters and one son. She adapted easily and spoke more fluent English then most of her family could. She worked as a private secretary for many years with an engineering firm and would always come home immediately following work to clean the house and cook. She was a very proud wife and mother and always worked tirelessly to care for her family.
Some of Gerda's interests included gardening, travel, and painting, drawing and cooking. She was notably the "best" cook there was.
Surviving and missing Gerda are her husband, Rinehart, her two daughters; Romy and Glynnis, her son, Lars and her three grandchildren; Carleigh Taylor and Cullen and Carys Anderson whom she treasured very much.
She is preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
