Giovanni (John) Chemello, 91, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side. Giovanni was born on December 16, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to Innocente and Agnese (Castellani) Chemello.
On July 1, 1956, he married Armida Benitez at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Their marriage of 68 years was filled with love and wonderful memories.

His service took him to Florida, Puerto Rico, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Arlington, Virginia, Naples, Italy, Traverse City, Michigan, New York City, and Corpus Christi, Texas. Upon retiring, he chose to settle in Traverse City to be close to his family in Detroit.
After his military service, Giovanni attended Northwestern Michigan College, where he earned an associate degree in Auto Technology. He found joy in family gatherings, listening to music, attending concerts and sporting events, watching movies, and working on old cars.
