GRAWN – Gladys Kathleen Sherman, 84, of Grawn, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 at Munson Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Gladys was born on August 26, 1932, in Merrill, MI, to Joseph and Sarah (Dean) Otway. She married her high school sweetheart, Duane Sherman, October 25, 1952, in Midland. She first met Duane in the first grade and it truly was love at first sight.

Gladys was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She lovingly raised her eight children and was affectionately called 'GG' by her great grandchildren. Gladys also worked at the Whitmore-Rexall Drug Store, Sunshine Kids clothing store and was the 'lunch lady' at St Mary's of Hannah school for many years.

Gladys will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Gladys is survived by her children, Debra Sherman, Gail (Roger) Yanska, Greg (Jeanette) Sherman, Matt (Patty) Sherman, Deana (Jerry) Walls, Kimberly (Vincent) Currier, Bryon (Viola) Sherman and Ellen (Timothy) Wrede; grandchildren, Sara Yanska, Amanda Yanska, Jessica (Patrick) Zionskowski, Coleman (Bobbie Lynn) Sherman, Aaron Marie (Abraham) Bagley, Hayley Sherman, Maggie-Jo Sherman, Jack (Lisa) Walls, Kathleen Walls, Carrie Walls, Trevor Currier, Connor Currier, David Sherman and Rachael Sherman; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings Patricia Polous, Margaret (Peg) Postma and Robert (Joanne) Otway; and many other loving family members and friends.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Duane Sherman; parents Joseph and Sarah Otway; siblings Joseph Otway, Ellen Mayer, Donna Polmanteer, Sr. Mary Otway, Leo Otway, John 'Jack' Otway and Thomas Otway.

Visitation for Gladys will take place Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11 a.m, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Father Greg McCallum will officiate services.
