Glenn T. Lautner

Glenn T. Lautner, 91, of Traverse City, passed away at Grand Travesre Pavilions in the arms of his loving family on Thursday, December 19, 2013.

He was born on Monday, July 3, 1922 to the late Theodore and Alice (Courtade) Lautner in Traverse City. He married Beatrice F. Herkner on Saturday, May 29, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he and Bea are still members.

Glenn was a life long dairy and cherry farmer and worked for Northern Stainless Steel until 1989. After retiring, Glenn volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul. He enjoyed family get togethers, watching his grandchildren, feeding the birds, woodworking and gardening.

A man of few words, he had a gentle heart and a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Glenn is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Beatrice; his loving children, Theresa (Marvin) Weber of Grawn, Carolyne (Daniel) Sheffer of Cedar, Colleen (Melvin) Horton of Traverse City, Helen Sheffer of Traverse City, Debra (Michael) Brief of Beulah, Edith (Steven Wheelock) Cox of Traverse City, Edward (Sandra Lueck) Lautner of Traverse City, Carrie (Raymond) Aprill of Cedar, Roseann (Gerald) Overmyer of Interlochen; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Rita (Ed) Schopieray and his brother in law, Leo Panek.

Besides his parent, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Loretta (Adam) Panek-Miser, Vera Lautner Panek, Sylvester Lautner and Fritz (Estella) Lautner.

Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where visitation will take place one hour prior to the mass.

Grave-side committal services will be held in Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery

Memorial contributions in Glenn's name may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
