Glenn Ezra Schrock

August 9, 1937 — November 2, 2014

Glenn Ezra Schrock, 77 years, 2 months, and 24 days, went home to be with his Lord on November 2, 2014 after a time of illness. He was born in Goshen, Indiana on August 9, 1937 to Ezra and Clara (Bontrager) Schrock. He married Shirley Miller on September 15, 1956. He helped his father in the farm tile draining business. After his marriage he worked in the trailer factory until they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1958 where Glenn worked in the Bethesda Hospital for 9 years. In 1967 Glenn moved his family to Traverse City, Michigan. He started the Traverse Bay Mennonite Church and was ordained to the ministry in 1970 and bishop in 1982. He served numerous board positions for Mid-West fellowship, Maranatha Bible School, Christian Light Publications, Deeper Life Ministries, Fresh Start Ministries and various committees. He was employed at Munson Medical Center in the personnel office for 13 years. In 1980 he retired from the hospital and began his appliance installation service which he did for many years. During this time he also invented the Handi- Steps, which are being sold across the U.S.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Shirley (Miller); one daughter, Rhonda (Luke) Gingerich; one son, Wendall (Loveda Hochstetler) Schrock, both of Traverse City, MI; ten grandchildren: Korwin (Trenda) Schrock, Kingsley, MI, Priscilla (Scott) Hoover, Stratford, WI, Kenlyn (MeLisa) Schrock, Bonners Ferry, ID, Rebecca (William) Hoover, Stratford,WI, Kendall (Jaimie) Schrock, Traverse City, MI, Benjamin (Hannah) Gingerich, Grawn, MI, Susanna (Ernest) Weaver, Charlevoix, MI, Amanda Gingerich, Traverse City, MI, Timothy Gingerich, Traverse City, MI and Karina Schrock, Traverse City, MI; sixteen great-grandchildren: Brady, Cameron, and Jackie Schrock; Kaden, Keira, Parker, and Paris Schrock; Brad, Alyssa, David, Aaron and Eric Hoover; Anthony, Zachary, and Joshua Hoover; and Blake Schrock; one sister, Tressa (Edwin) Knepp, Macon, MS; seven brothers: Lester (Louise) Schrock, Macon, MS, Ivan (Ruby) Schrock, Middlebury, IN, Fred (Linda) Schrock, Goshen, IN, David (Rachel) Schrock, Dayton, VA, Calvin (Mary Jane) Schrock, Atmore, AL, Galen (Jeanie) Schrock, Macon, MS, Titus (Lois) Schrock, Camilla, GA, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Ezra (1995) and Clara (1993), a brother, Vernon (1957), a sister, Treva (1995), sister-in law, Linda (2010), and a brother-in law Edwin (2013).

The family would like to thank Traverse Victorian Senior Assisted Living for their love and care these past four months. We also thank hospice care for their aid. Thank you to our church family and many friends for your prayers, support, and visits.

Arrangements were made by Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kingsley, MI.
