Obituary

Glenn Lewis VanRiper, 81, of Traverse City and formerly of Thunder Bay, Ontario died on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at his home.

Glenn was born on Friday, July 28, 1933 to the late Clyde and Matilda "Tillie" (Shields) VanRiper in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.

Glenn honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from January 1962 to June 1964.

Glenn married the former Elizabeth A. Pratt on Saturday, January 18, 1964, in Traverse City, MI.

Glenn worked as a Director of Utilities Operations in Bonita Springs, FL.

Glenn was a member and President of The Lions Club in FL and a member of Kiwanis, Rotary, and Elks. He enjoyed ice skating, hockey, boating, fishing, home, and yard work.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Anne VanRiper; sons, Steven (Amy) VanRiper of Valrico, FL; David VanRiper of Palm Springs, CA; grandchildren, Nicholas and Emma of Valrico, FL; And niece Karen (Mike) Kane of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde A. and Matilda VanRiper; brother and sister-in-law, John "Jack" (Vera) VanRiper.

Following cremation, private graveside committal services will be held in Oakwood Cemetery.
