Glenwood Arthur Belanger, 88 of Traverse City, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Glen was born on December 11, 1936, in Lake Leelanau where he lived until the age of 6. The family then moved to Traverse City where he lived the remainder of his life. Glen was born to the late Orson and Serphine (LaCross) Belanger. He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1955. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, embodying the values of dedication and service.
After his military service, Glen worked for Morgan McCool Cherry Processing Plant as a Supervisor and then he went to work as a Route Salesman for Grand Traverse Overall Supply, a career he excelled in until his retirement in 1997.
In 2000, Glen married Charlotte "Char" Sleder, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community. They were active members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and shared many cherished moments on the greens at Elmbrook Golf Course.
Glen found joy in the great outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or spending quality time with his family. His warm presence, love for life, and dedication to those he held dear will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by wife Char of 24 wonderful years, his children, Teresa (Ken) Burritt, Thomas (Michelle) Belanger, Scott (Lisa) Belanger, Todd Belanger, Susan (Jordan) Buning, Nicholas Richards, John (Diana) Richards, Thomas Richards and Patrick (Dawn) Richards, grandchildren, Audrey, Allie, Amanda, Christopher, Joshua, Matthew, Steven, David, Madeline, Grayson, Landon, Morgan, Paige, Collin, Allison, Lauren, Kyle, Chelsea, Taylor, Blake, great grandchildren, Quinn, Grace, Blake, Elliott, Maren and Adeline. He is also survived by his siblings, Sharon, Robert and Randy.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patricia, and his siblings, Melvin, Cletus and Nancy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a visitation held one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made directly
to the Church. Burial will take place in the Spring with Military Honors at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Kindly share thoughts and memories with his family at
