Traverse City - Gloria M. Crandall, 88, of Traverse City, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at The Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Gloria was born on Sunday, October 19, 1924 to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Thoreson) Munro in Boston, MA. She married Frederick L. Crandall on Monday, April 14, 1947 in San Francisco, CA. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2012.
For 26 years, Gloria was employed at the Traverse City Public Library. Prior to that time, she volunteered at the Central Grade School library. Gloria had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and formerly of the White Shrine. Gloria's husband Fred was active in many organizations, and Gloria was always at his side, assisting in whatever way she could.
Gloria is survived by her children, Gloria (Dan) Ockert of Kingsley, Frederick L. (Rhonda) Crandall, Jr of Duluth, MN and Cynthia Hall. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; a sister, Ida Bell of Seattle, WA, brothers, Walter Munro, Jr of CA, and Pete (Carol) Munro, John Munro and Thoreson Munro, all of New Hampshire.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 22 from 5 until 7 p.m. at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 also at the funeral home, with services under the auspices of Traverse Bay Area Chapter 147 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Burial will take place in Bingham Township Cemetery in the spring.
