Traverse City, MI- Gloria Ann Wolf, aged 72, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024 with her husband by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 25, 1952 to Rudy and Esther Fritz, she grew up in Jonesville, Mi with her older sister Elnora. After graduating High School, she enrolled and graduated from Parkview-Methodist School of Nursing in 1973 as a Registered Nurse. Moving to Adrian, MI she began her lifelong career in OB/GYN Nursing in both hospital and private practices. It was there she met her beloved soul-mate Mike Wolf and they were married October 25, 1975. On April 15, 1978 they welcomed into the world their everlasting joy, a son Charlie. In 1980 they moved to Traverse City, MI which became their loving home forever.
Once settled in, she began her career in Obstetrical and Maternity Nursing with physicians in private practices. She joined the Staff of Traverse City Community (Osteopathic) Hospital in 1983. Later she transitioned to TC Munson Medical Center in 1995, becoming a highly respected and integral member of the Family Birthing Center until her retirement in 2016. During that time she completed her BSN degree with Ferris State University. Her greatest joy was assisting mothers and families with caring love as they experienced the miracle of childbirth and parenthood.
Gloria was the rock solid foundation of her family, providing a stable base for the routine, support and caring when needed, injecting humor and playfulness often and a serious aura when necessary. She enjoyed time with friends playing Mahjong, Bicycling, Traveling, Snowshoeing, Movie and Book Clubs and just having lunch chatting or being silly. As an avid Scrapbooker, she documented events and history in superb artistic ways. Many trips took her throughout the US and Internationally. And she loved to Swim regularly since her youth. Whether she sat outdoors reading a book or feeding her chipmunks and wild birds or did crossword puzzles, she was most happy at Home in the company of her family.
She leaves her loving husband of 49 years Mike, and their family members including Charlie (Nicole) Wolf and grand-daughter Esther, Elnora (Phil) Johnson, Steve (Amy) Johnson and Shawn, Daniel (Julie) Wolf, Jared (Andrea) Wolf and Evie, Isely, Welles, Megan (Ben) Jones and Trey, Timothy (Michele) Wolf, Ian (Allison) Wolf and Eli, Emmet to carry on her legacy of family togetherness.
Plans for a Celebration of Life will be forthcoming with a target date of June 8,2024 in Traverse City, Ml.
In lieu of flowers, she wished that Memorial contributions be directed to Grand Traverse Bay YMCA, TC Tart Trails and the Cowell Family Cancer Center in Traverse City, MI.
Final Arrangements and details have been cared for by Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
