Gordon Wiseman Jr. passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024 at his home.
Gordon was born on July 28, 1946 in Detroit to the late Gordon and Alma Wiseman Sr. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and proudly served in the United States Army. He served in Germany as a Military Police Officer and in security at the Nuclear War Base. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
He went on to work for Ford Motor Company at the Dearborn Stamping Plant and was proud to drive Ford vehicles in support of his career. Following his retirement after 31 years, he moved to Lake Ann where he met Janette Henry. Together they joined forces and married in 2001. He was a significant father figure to his step daughters and was proud to take on a ready-made family. They then built their dream home on Old Mission Peninsula doing a lot of the work themselves. In his retirement Gordon started building single family homes. He enjoyed helping young families achieve the dream of home ownership. In total he built 24 homes in our area with a lease to own program.
Gordon endured a bicycle accident and was left with a traumatic head injury. He struggled to regain mental and physical mobility but thanks to his determination and strength he nearly fully recovered. The last few years he struggled with dementia.
He was known for his strong will, stubbornness and being outspoken, but those who truly knew him, knew that he had strong morals, was generous and had a heart of gold. He had a soft spot for animals and children, a passion for sailing, bicycling and safety.
