Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Gordon Thaddeus Rosinski, 76, lifelong resident of the Traverse City area, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Gordon was born on March 23, 1935, to the late Boleslaus "Bill" and Joanne (Popa) Rosinski, in Cedar. Gordon served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves.Gordon entered into marriage with the former Sylvia R. McWatters on Saturday, Jan. 29, 1955, in Traverse City. Gordon made his living as a talented carpenter and cabinet maker. Gordon was part of the Carpenters Union for 35 years.Gordon was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; he helped maintain the church and grounds and also acted as an Eucharist Minister. He also served as one of the bell ringers at Immaculate Conception. Gordon volunteered his musical talent playing to entertain the guests at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. Gordon played his accordion with his polka band, Happy Polka Partners. He worked on, and helped build the Carmelite Monastery. He sang in a choral group in college and enjoyed the computer, music, gardening, bird watching and spending time with his family.Gordon is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Sylvia R. Rosinski, of Traverse City; Edward Rosinski, Carlene (Jerry) Rufli, Norman (Kathy) Rosinski, James Rosinski, Ruthanne (Gordon) Jesse, of Seattle, Wash., Steve (Sarah) Rosinski, William (Jamie) Rosinski and Charles (Amanda) Rosinski, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albin (Susan) Rosinski and George Rosinski; his sister, Georgetta Jefferson; and many other loving family members and friends. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Theresa Fifarek. A memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 17, 2011, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with a recitation of the rosary just prior to the Mass.Memorial contributions may be directed to Right To Life of Michigan.
