Grace Marie (Tweddle) Stachnik, 81, of Cedar, passed away peacefully February 13, 2016. She was born on January 14, 1935 in Traverse City, the daughter of Bernice (Garey) and Edward Kaiser.
On June 14, 1954, she married Richard L. Stachnik, who passed away in April of 1980. Together they had raised three sons, Joseph (Sharon Maitland) Randy and Terry (Kelly), all of Cedar. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jacob (Becky) Tanner of England, Paige Stachnik of Grand Rapids and Tyler Stachnik of Cedar; and 3 great grandchildren, Alyssa, Eliza and John Tanner. Grace is survived by her sister Bernice Boocher of Plainwell and a sister in law, Pat Jacobs of Lansing.
For over 35 years, Grace and her husband raised cherries on their farm. Every summer you could find her cleaning cherry tanks as they came off the shaker. She also had a large garden and gave away many vegetable to anyone who asked. She loved her gardens, watching Detroit Pistons and Tiger games and working number puzzles.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Louie and Dick Tweddle and a sister Bertha Minier.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 17 at St. Francis Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to the mass. The Rev. Father Kenneth Stachnik will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Isadore.
