Grant Roger Bannen, born January 27, 1939, in Traverse City, Michigan, to Geneva (Bartlett) and Milford "Stub" Bannen, passed away peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 12, 2024, at the age of 85.

Grant was an adventurous spirit who lived life with vigor and enthusiasm. His passions ranged from the great outdoors to the thrill of competition, with camping, fishing, and golfing among his favorite pastimes. A gifted athlete in his youth, Grant was a standout running back at Traverse City High School, and he often fondly recalled his time on the field as one of the highlights of his life. He went on to graduate from Michigan State University, where he developed a lifelong pride in being a Spartan.

In his professional life, Grant built a distinguished career as a hotel executive. His talent for team-building and his expertise in revitalizing struggling hotels were his trademarks, taking him across the country from managing the Playboy Club in San Francisco to positions in Yosemite National Park, Atlanta, Charlottesville, and Orlando. Wherever he went, Grant earned a reputation for leadership, integrity, and a knack for turning challenges into success.

He was a loving father to his two sons, Grant Bannen (wife, Stacy) and Mike Bannen (wife, Megan). He had four grandchildren—Emma Jane, Lane, Hank, and Gus. Grant is also survived by his brother, Ken Bannen, with whom he shared a special bond having grown up in a single parent household.
A memorial service will be held in honor of his life on November 25th at 11:00 AM at Reynolds-Jonkhoff funeral home.

Grant's legacy of adventure, dedication, and family will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
