Gregory Edward Sillence

Gregory Edward Sillence, known to family and friends as Greg, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2025.
Born on February 8, 1988, in Ypsilanti to the late David Albert and Susan Elaine (Cox) Sillence, Greg grew up in the Detroit area alongside his brother, Michael David Sillence.
Greg was a kind and humble man with a heart of gold. Though naturally quiet, he was outgoing and full of humor once you got to know him. He was always willing to go above and beyond for others and would quite literally give you the shirt off his back. His greatest joy in life was his son, Finley, whom he adored. Greg and Fin shared a special bond, spending countless hours watching Batman together and building with Legos.
Greg had a lifelong passion for computers and technology, building a career in IT where his talent and dedication shone. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father, a loyal friend, and a good person whose quiet generosity touched many lives.
He is survived by his beloved son Finley; his brother Michael (Elizabeth) Sillence; his niece and nephew Elaine and William; his Uncle Donald Sillence; his grandmother Joyce Johnson; his stepmother Julie Whalls; his continued friend and co-parent Marque Haynes; and his dogs Bucky and Odin.
In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, the family encourages others to "pay it forward" and do a good deed in Greg's honor. Whether small or large, these acts of kindness reflect the way Greg lived and remind us that it is the little things that make the world a better place.
