Williamsburg- Guy Clint Chandler of Williamsburg ( formerly Cascade, MI) passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at the age of 94. Guy lived a full life and passed away with his family at his bedside.
Guy was born to E.H. and Celia (Eller) on October 14, 1925 in Grayson County, Virginia. He graduated from Oak Hill Academy in 1943 and enlisted in the US Navy after graduation. He served as a pharmacist mate and corpsmen at the Fleet Hospital Guam, Pacific until 1946.
Upon his return from war, he met his beloved wife Kate (Spencer) and they just celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on May 2. He had a long career for Lear Siegler, Inc. later Smith Industries for 39 years. He was a buyer for the company and took pride in his work.
He is survived by his two children, Craig and Jill (Mumford), his daughter in law, Donna and son in law, Michael and granddaughter, Emily. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kyla (Chandler). Guy was a devoted family man and loved by many.
Guy and his wife Kate were active members of Cascade Christian Church for many decades until relocating to Williamsburg, MI in 2016 to be closer to their daughter and son in law.
Guy loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, golfing, playing pool and watching the occasional football game. Guy will be remembered for his love, hard work, and unfailing sense of humor.
Guy's family wants to thank Samaritas Assisted Living staff and Hospice of Michigan for their care and support to Guy in his last days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Guy's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Cascade, MI.
The family is being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
