Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Harold Grant Morgan, 71, of Kingsley, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Harold was born on Thursday, Nov. 7, 1940, to the late Floyd and Isla (Weaver) Morgan in Kingsley.Harold served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He had been employed at Burwood and later as a nurse attendant at the State Hospital. A longtime member of AA, Harold dedicated himself to helping and encouraging others and had achieved the goal of nearly 25 years as a member of that organization. Harold had a great love of the out-of-doors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking and spending time at Mayfield Pond and most recently, bird watching. He also enjoyed home improvement projects such as cutting wood to supply his heat in the cold months, as well as working on tractors and leather work, with an overall enjoyment of "tinkering". Harold is survived by his children, Liz Mills, of Florida, Angie Hertel, of Illinois, Deneen Morgan, of Minnesota, Branden (Jennifer Buell-Morgan) Morgan and Toni (Greg) Stout, all of Traverse City; his grandchildren, Chance, Daniel, Joy, Abby, Jessica, Chase, Ayla, Lael, Karissa, Gabrielle, Aris, Grant, Julia, Hannah and Connor; and his great-grandchildren, Zia and Ruby. Also surviving are his siblings, Dolores Anderson, of Traverse City, Lloyd (Barb) Morgan and Juanita (Jack) Weber, all of Kingsley, and Mark (Sheila Blue) Morgan, of McBain; along with many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bernard Lynn and George.Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at The Salvation Army, with Major Bruce Jennings officiating.Memorial contributions may be directed to The Salvation Army.
