Harold Joseph Roesner passed peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 96 at Brookdale of Grand Blanc. He was born on January 13, 1929, in Flint, Michigan, to Ernest and Isabelle Roesner. Harold graduated from All Saints High School, where he served as president of the Holy Name Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son-in-law Craig McDougall, and his wives, Carolyn Lee Roesner and Colleen Elizabeth O'Sullivan Roesner, the mother of his children.
Harold is survived by his nine children: Mary Roesner (Timothy Sciba), Patricia McDougall, Joanne Kelley (Brent), Theodore J. Roesner (Julie), Edward Roesner, Elizabeth Pittenger (Ronald), Harold Jr. (Kelly), George Roesner (Angela), and Timothy Roesner (Tracey). He also leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In January 1948, Harold began his career at General Motors as a mail boy. He retired after 40 years from the Chevrolet Engine Plant as an Industrial Engineer. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Harold was an active member of Holy Family Church in Grand Blanc, where he served as an usher for many years and as a member and past president of the Men's Club. He and Colleen cherished summers at their cottage on Torch Lake, where they enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
Following retirement in Traverse City, Harold dedicated his time to volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He was an excellent bridge player and found great joy in spending time with his family. A devout Catholic, he attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Traverse City and started a men's rosary group at his assisted living community in his later years.
A celebration of Harold's life will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union St., Traverse City, followed by a Mass at 12:00 noon and a luncheon afterward. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Township.
