TRAVERSE CITY — Harry James Elliott, 84, of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.Harry was born Jan. 11, 1928, to the late William and Sarah (Platt) Elliott in Romeo.Harry served his country as a member of the U. S. Air Force.On Feb. 7, 1956, Harry married the former Sally J. Brooks in Cadillac. She preceded him in death June 27, 2006.Harry had been employed as a route driver, first having worked for 7-Up, later for McDonald Dairy and, prior to his retirement, for Sara Lee.He had been a member of the American Legion in Cadillac. He also enjoyed coin and card collecting, fishing, ice fishing, hunting, bowling and scuba diving. Harry was a fan of the Tigers and Lions, yet his devotion to U of M sports was unparalled.He is survived by his sons, Jody (Michelle Jones), of Copemish, Drew (Diana), of Traverse City, and Brooks, also of Traverse City; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Samantha, Brandon and Drew Alan; and seven great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Steenbergh officiating.
