Harry Joseph Turnbull

TRAVERSE CITY — Harry Joseph Turnbull, 77, of Maple City, passed away on May 6, 2015 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Harry was born on Saturday, April 9, 1938 to the late Joseph Carl and Beatrice K. (Henning) Turnbull in Arverne, New York. He entered into marriage with the former Katherine Ellen Fritz on Dec. 24, 1974, in Margate, Florida.
Harry honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a Master Chief E-9, retiring after 25 years. He resided in many different locations; New York, Hialeah, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, California, and Washington D.C. Harry and Kathy became full-time RV-ers for 11 years. He was an active member of the Cedar-Maple City Lions Club, and he will be fondly remembered as the "Candy Man" since he always had candy in his pocket for the children.
Harry is survived by his wife, Katherine "Kathy" Turnbull; sons, Terry (Angelina) Turnbull, of Alabama, Jerry (Vicky) Turnbull, of Florida, Robert (Jann) Turnbull, of Florida, Lawrence Turnbull, of Illinois; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by parents, Joseph C. and Beatrice K Turnbull; sons, Thomas Turnbull, Harry Turnbull; and brother, Joseph Carl Turnbull.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation held one hour prior. Military honors will be delivered by the VFW Cherryland Post 2780.
