Hayden James Scogin

GRAND RAPIDS – Hayden James Scogin, 8, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. Hayden was born on January 1, 2005 in Denver, CO, to Jeremy and Sherill (Tippetts) Scogin. Hayden enjoyed learning, he attended Traverse Heights ISD. Among his favorite things, Hayden loved his blanket, playing with his cars and throwing his balls. The beach is where he had the most fun, playing in the water and sand. He had a playful spirit and he enjoyed throwing the sand and breaking things. He was always happy, he loved everyone and everyone returned that love for him. Hayden's spirit will live on through the many lives touched.

Surviving are his loving parents; Jeremy and Sherrill Scogin of Traverse City; a younger sister, Madison Scogin; grandparents; Karel and Jack, Vicky and Dan, Lee and Loletta, and Terry. Also surviving are great-grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Hayden's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2103 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City. Pastor Justin Grimm will officiate. Burial will follow in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Hayden's family request that those attending the funeral service wear formal attire with bright colors.

Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. also on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
