Hazel Leona Sass, age 89, of Lake Ann, MI, passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2024. Born on September 20th, 1934, in Royal Oak, MI, she was the beloved daughter of Walter J. and Esther Hines.

Hazel was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lake Ann and had resided in the Traverse City area since 1994. She worked for the Grand Traverse Insider, where she delivered the paper every single early morning. Hazel had a passion for fishing, finding peace and joy in the activity throughout her life.

She is survived by her three children: Luanne (Jim) Teller, Wendy (Randy) Sass-Barber, and Brian T. Sass. Hazel also leaves behind her grandchildren, Josh and Amanda, as well as her step-grandchildren, Samantha and Tabby.

Hazel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard E. Sass, with whom she shared many wonderful years.
